SCHOOL BASED EXPERIENCE

It's the beginning of our Fourth Semester in IPGM KKB..

On 15th February - 26th February 2009...
We, consist 24 students of IPGM KKB - MARJON 1 were delighted to participate in our first activity for the last semester of our two years foundation programme.
We were divided evenly into 6 groups and sent to 6 different secondary school around Kota Bharu to attend the SCHOOL BASED EXPERIENCE programme.
This programme allows us to experience the feeling to be in school not as a student but as a teacher in training. The two weeks programme acquires us to observe the students, the teacher's teaching method and the the school's environment. We also were needed to accomplish an assignment based on the experience.
We were guided by mentors that were teachers from the school itself. Nonetheless, it was indeed a memorable experience and it does makes us more enthusiastic to become the engineers of mind for the next generation.

Canoes

7th November 2008....
it was a sunny and beautiful day...
so, the 49 of us, Marjon Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 students of IPKB decided to take part on a canoe course in Sungai Sabak, Kelantan...
Well, we didn't actually 'decided' but Marjon Cohort 2 was ought to do it for their CCCA syllabus and for us, it was just a golden shining opportunity to join them and get more knowledge out of the classroom.
The canoe course which is 'Kursus Kenu Tahap 1 Star Awards 1' required us to canoe 7.5 km from Pusat Aktiviti Canoe Kelantan (PACK) until we reach the shores of Sabak Beach.
It was a two day course hence we did paddle from PACK to Sabak Beach and from Sabak Beach to PACK.
We were of course accompanied by our lecturers and experienced facilitators who helped us through out this mind blowing journey.
We did feel the pain and aches in our muscles but we put it aside and focused to finish this course successfully.
It was definitely a memorable moment in our lives and it also teaches us to be strong and do not give up.

Public Speaking

  • We are getting nearer to the end of third semester in IPKB.
  • So, for Language Development we were overjoyed as Mr. Muhaimi our LDEV lecturer suggested that we did a public speaking competition among us.
  • Hence, 6 people were chosen to be the committee members while others became the participants. The committee also function as the judges of the competition. They did a fantastic job organizing this competition.

  • The competition was divided into 2 parts. The first part was freestyle. We could chose any topic and speak for 5 minutes on the stage while the second part of this competition was impromptu. It requires us to pick a topic from a jar. For this part, we were given 3 minutes to speak.
  • The competition was held on 1st November and10th November 2008.
  • We learned a lot from this competition. Among them are preparation, determination and being confident to speak in front of people.
  • Anyway, Jaryn won first place, Hidzer on the second place while Isna won the third place.
Congratulations to all...

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

According to Wikipedia, badminton is a racquet sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net.

So, what does it have to do with Marjon 1? Well...

On 21st October 2008, student council of IPKB organised an open competition to all of IPKB students who wanted to participate in badminton. So, we sent our best player for this competition. They are Jaryn, 'Atikah, Syue, Haziq, Nizam, and Vikram. We also imported specially from Marjon Cohort 2 students which were Tong and Kanimoli to join the group.

The others were so excited for them, so they made pom-poms, banner, you name it.. they got it...

The first round, we only won one for women's singles and it was a great achievement for us. We had a great time that night. Furthermore, we were very thrilled and excited to cheer them again for the second time in the second round of the game. Then, on the second round (29 October 2008), Amirul also played in the competition. This time we won women's singles again and also women's doubles. We gave the opponents a tough time to beat us.

Anyhow, it was very refreshing and gave us a whole new spirit.

Blood Donation

One of the interesting activities that we had joined during last Ramadhan Month was Blood Donation Programme which was held on the 22nd September 2008. This programme was organized at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab 2 by our juniors, Marjon 2 students with the cooperation of Rakan Masjid Club.

medical check-up session

At the Blood Donation Centre, as first-time donors, ten of us (Aiman, Haziq, Nizam, Timie, Hafizah, Wani, Isna, Jaryn, Syue and Shari) undergone a medical check-up session to ensure that we were qualified to donate blood. After that, as the dusk had approached, we broke our fast together at the centre before the blood donation programme started.

All in all, we really had a memorable experience donating blood although we were a bit scared at the first time. Full supports given by our tutors, Madam Noor Akbari and Mr. Zulkefli, not forgetting our beloved classmates had made us undergone the process as easy as ABC. This activity was very enjoyable indeed and we are looking forward to participate in such programme in future.
