3,2,1 ACTION!!!

Our class had been assigned to do a theatre performance as our assignment for English Studies. This theatre performance is based on William Shakespeare’s novel entitled The Merchant of Venice. This story was about Antonio, a rich merchant who had risks his life for his close friend, Bassanio. In order to help his friend, Antonio had to borrow money from Shylock, a person who was hated him so much. This had led to many conflicts and ended with a tragic ending.

This theatre had been performed in front of 250 people on 27 August 2008 at Bakti Hall. Our theatre started at 8 pm; however, in order to make sure everything was under control, all of us had gathered at the hall since morning and settled down all the unfinished work. On that night, the audience seemed to be very satisfied and impressed with our performance. All of them had enjoyed and felt happy with our performance. Apart from that, we also gave them a lucky draw too.

The day after the play, we had received so many compliments from our lecturers and friends. However, the nice feeling of receiving compliments cannot beat the feeling of being able to do something which required great effort and determination. This is because during a month of preparation, we had faced so many problems as we did not have experience of producing a theatre. However, all of us managed to handle it as we were so united, helped each other and worked days and nights just to produce a perfect theatre which will be one of our sweet memories.
